SUPERINTENDENT

Superintendent H. Clarence Phillips was born and raised in East Chicago, Indiana where he graduated from Roosevelt High School.  Following high school, he attended Purdue University where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master of Business Administration Degree. Superintendent Phillips is a Certified Public Accountant, where he received certification through the University of Illinois. He received his Master of Arts Degree in Theology and a Doctor of Philosophy Degree in Biblical Studies from Midwest Christian College and Seminary, where he has served as an Adjunct Professor teaching Hermeneutics.  He also has served as an Adjunct Professor at Purdue University teaching Accounting and Income Taxation.

     Superintendent Clarence H. Phillips is retired from the Internal Revenue Service where he worked for thirty-one years.  Through years of sacrifice and commitment, he worked in various capacities, culminating as a Tax Manager with managerial responsibility for fifteen states.  Superintendent Phillips has used his professional background to help Pastors and individuals filter through complex issues related to finances and taxation.  He considers his knowledge and abilities a gift from God to be shared.

     Superintendent Clarence H. Phillips was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost under his late father-in-law, Bishop William O. Blakely, Sr., the Pastor of Faith Temple Church of God in Christ in East Chicago, IN.  Under Bishop Blakely, Superintendent Phillips was appointed to work in various capacities, including the Deacon Board, Sunday School teacher, Budget Committee, President of the Young Men’s Christian Council, Volunteer Church Accountant, Special Assistant to the Pastor, and Secretary of the Jurisdictional Ordination Board.

     Superintendent Clarence H. Phillips accepted the call to Pastor and opened the doors of Abundant Grace Church of God in Christ in April 2007.  Through the ministry, souls have been saved, filled with the Holy Ghost, and healed from sickness and diseases. Abundant Grace Church has been a beacon of light in the community, allowing him the opportunity to preach and teach an uncompromising gospel to a world in need of God’s saving grace.

     Superintendent Clarence H. Phillips is sought after as an accomplished instructor and lecturer on topics related to Christian Ethics, Budgeting, Finance and Pastoral Leadership.  He has received numerous awards in the field of religion and community service. He currently serves as Superintendent of the Spirit of Excellence District, Executive Board Member, and Administrative Assistant to Bishop Donald L. Alford, Sr., Prelate of Indiana North Central Jurisdiction.

Superintendent Clarence H. Phillips has been happily married to Evangelist Freda Phillips, who serves as the Dean of the Missionary Academy for the Indiana North Central Jurisdiction’s Department of Women, for 36 years, they are the proud parents of one accomplished and extraordinary daughter, Dr. Adrienne Christine.
